Forgetting and being forgotten are two very difficult situations to be in.

And in Someone to Watch Over Me, the latest drama series airing this August on GMA Pinoy TV, we get to see both sides as Kapuso hunk Tom Rodriguez tackles the role of TJ Chavez, a man who has Alzheimer’s disease, while Kapuso Premier Actress Lovi Poe takes on the role of his wife Joanna Mercado.

Due to Alzheimer’s, TJ slowly forgets about Joanna, remembering only his previous girlfriend.

For Tom, the role is one that is far from any other he has portrayed, which is why he is getting more into character by reading up on the medical condition. “Right now, I am just trying to educate myself with this illness [Alzheimer’s] because it’s a very real thing pala. You know, just a few months before this, I had no idea.

Like, ganito pala kabilis, ka-rapid yung disease na [Like, the disease develops very fast, rapidly that] you will be able to see the deterioration right away. For me, I even started doing mind exercises kasi [because] I’m an over-thinker and my hobby is to stimulate my brain. Kasi [Because] I love reading, I love studying, I love taking courses, I love doing many techniques. Kaya [Which is why] to prepare for a role that’s as heavy as this, it must be a superb one,” said the actor.

Lovi, meanwhile, is preparing herself for the very challenging role of a woman who has to deal with the loss of her husband’s memory of their relationship. “Actually, ini-imbibe ko na yung pain na nararamdaman ni Joanna para pagdating sa set, ready na ako. Pero sobra akong nagpapasalamat palagi kasi sa lahat naman ng binibigay nila sa akin na projects, masaya ako dun. And with the thought na they’re trusting me with this, I want to make sure that I give my best kasi hindi biro yung mga roles na binibigay nila sa akin [Actually, I’ve started to imbibe the pain Joanna feels so that I’ll be ready when I come on to the set. But I’m always extremely grateful because I’m really happy with all the projects I’m being given. And with the thought that they’re trusting me with this, I want to make sure that I give my best because these are very serious roles],” says the award-winning actress.

Join Tom and Lovi as they explore the complexities of TJ and Joanna’s relationship in the intriguing GMA drama series Someone to Watch Over Me, coming soon on GMA Pinoy TV this August.
