Cayetano to remain steadfast in fighting corruption
MANILA—If elected to the second highest position in the May 9 polls, Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said he will remain steadfast in fighting corruption.
His sister, Sen. Pia Cayetano, said his brother has been fighting corruption even before he became senator.
“As a congressman he was already exposing corruption in government. I know that he will continue to pursue his anti-corruption crusade even more passionately if given the mandate by the people to serve as vice president in the May elections,” she said.
Pia, who is actively supporting her brother’s candidacy by launching her own “Ronda Bisikleta” sorties in various places in the country, pointed out that “corruption is a major issue in this election.
”
“Every candidate promises to improve the delivery of social services such as health and education. But if corrupt public officials will steal from 10, 20 to 50 percent of funds for these services, then the people will suffer in the end,” she said.
