Canadian welterweight Clayton to headline for second time against Robles
MONTREAL – Custio Clayton will be in the main event for a second time in a row when he faces Alvaro Robles in a welterweight bout March 17 at the Montreal Casino, boxing promoter Yvon Michel announced Tuesday.
Clayton (6-0), of Dartmouth, N.S., was the featured fighter when he stopped Frenchman Stanislas Salmon in the second round on Jan.
21 at the same venue.
The Canadian Olympian is to have his toughest test to date against Robles (20-5-0, 18 knockouts), who has faced top opponents like IBF champion Kell Brook and Alfonso Blanco.
The co-feature has MMA fighter Yoni Sherbatov (1-0) of Laval, Que.
against American Eric Moell (7-3) in a bout fought over three five-minute rounds.
Erik Barrak (8-3) of Montreal will fight for the Canadian heavyweight title against Raymond Olubowale (10-7-1) of Toronto.
