DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan—Vice-Presidential candidate, Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., was blessed by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas on Saturday during the fifth day of the former’s unity caravan in the northern part of the country.
“He blessed me. And I am very grateful for that,” he said.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to the head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) for accommodating him and his group despite the Catholic prelate’s busy schedule.
“He was very gracious to accommodate us despite his own…he just came from Manila,” he said.
The independent Vice-Presidential bet noted that they did not discussed politics, what they talked about was about his family.
“We talked about everything, we talked about my family, we didn’t talk about politics,” he said.
Marcos added, “We discussed everything under the sun, except politics.
”
The meeting, which was held at the Arzobizpado Lingayen-Dagupan lasted for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, the senator said that there’s no point in having a DNA test on him since it would not do any good to Senator Grace Poe, who continued to search for a DNA match of her relatives to prove that she was a Filipino.
In a press briefing at the house of Mangayarem Mayor Teodoro Cruz, the lawmaker admitted that he was just only joking when he told the media about his willingness to have his DNA taken.
“Yes, but there is no point. Kayo naman hindi na kayo mabiro, nagbibiro lang naman ako. There’s no point. why will I have a DNA test, what for? It will not help her; it will not have any effect on her situation,” he said.
Marcos added, “Sinabi ko lang yun kasi hindi nyo ako tinitigilan dun sa DNA. O sige I’m willing to have a DNA…kayo naman sineryoso ninyo.”
Poe’s candidacy is being questioned since she cannot prove her Filipino lineage, which is one of the qualifications in running for the highest position in the land.
The last DNA test conducted with the possible relatives of the Presidential candidate proved to be negative.
In a related development, the running mate of Marcos, presidential bet, Senator Miriam Defender Santiago is expected to announce their senatorial line up on February 14 in Pasig City.
Marcos refused to name the guest candidates, as he was leaving it to Santiago, as the standard-bearer of their ticket, but he hinted that the senatoriables are well-known personalities.
“Pabayaan na natin si Senator Miriam. She is the head of the ticket, she has the prerogative to make that announcement. Hinii bale bukas naman e, mabilis lang, sandali na lang. Kilala nyo naman lahat. Iniisip ko ngayon walang bago, kilala ninyo,” he said.
