Palace extends condolences to late LTO Chief’s family
MANILA – Malacañang expressed its sympathies on Sunday to the family of former Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Virginia Torres who died last Saturday following a heart attack.
“We extend our sympathies and condolences to the family of former Assistant Secretary Virginia Torres,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Colomia Jr. said in a Radyo ng Bayan interview.
Torres started serving the government as cashier of the LTO office in Tarlac in 1980 until she was appointed by President Benigno S.
Aquino III as Assistant Secretary and Chief of the LTO in July 2010.
She resigned in 2013.
“We recognized her 33-year continued public service,” Coloma said.
In August last year, Torres grabbed the spotlight when she allegedly tried to convince Bureau of Customs officials into releasing PhP100 million worth of seized sugar from Thailand.
