Co operative weather, flights aid so far smooth post Thanksgiving travel efforts

NEW YORK—Mostly clear weather conditions and largely efficient airport operations are helping millions return to their homes after the Thanksgiving holiday.

National Weather Service meteorologist Bruce Sullivan says Sunday temperatures across much of the country are seasonably mild, though the central plains will see some freezing rain and snow Sunday night into Monday.

Federal Aviation Administration data show relatively few delays at airports across the country. The FAA says volume delays had been reported at LaGuardia in New York, as well as Dulles International and Regan National airports in Washington, D.C.

Motoring organization AAA predicted nearly 47 million Americans were expected to travel at least 50 miles from home via car, plane or bus over the holiday weekend.
