Gloria Ortinez, an overseas Filipino worker in Hong Kong who has lost her job as nanny because of the alleged bullet-planting scam at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has been rehired by her former employer.

Ortinez’ employer has decided to rehire her after an emotional encounter between Ortinez and her 13-year-old ward, Susan Ople, President of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center told the Manila Bulletin.

“Her son cried the whole night and refused to eat breakfast the next day,” Ople was quoted as saying in the same report.

Ortinez and her employer met on Monday and spoke of the ordeal Ordinez went through when she was arrested for illegal possession of ammunition at the NAIA.

“It was the first time they discussed the incident face-to-face and the employer expressed sympathy over what the OFW went through,” Ople said in the same report.

“The employer expressed her willingness to issue a new contract to Ortinez after the termination of her previous one due to the tanim-bala incident,” Ople added.

Ortinez’ accepted the offer but has asked for some time to recover from the trauma due to her arrest. She has returned to the Philippines to spend time with her daughter and to iron out matters regarding her case.

Meanwhile, her employer has promised not to replace her while she spends time in the Philippines.

The case against Ortinez has been junked by the Pasay court due to lack probable cause.

Ortinez and her legal counsel plans to file counter charges against some government agencies.
