Pres. Aquino to host Chilean president’s state visit
Manila—President Benigno Aquino III will host ceremonies at the Malacañang Palace today for President Michelle Bachelet of Chile who is conducting her first state visit to the Philippines. A state luncheon will be held in Bachelet’s honor.
Pres. Bachelet who arrived to the Philippines yesterday, two days ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting, will attend the regional economic forum, joining US President Barack Obama and Pres.
Xi Jinping of China, said Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. in a report by the Philippine Star.
Pres. Aquino and Pres. Bachelet will also conduct a bilateral meeting.
“After the bilateral meeting there will also be agreements that will be signed. After the signing of agreements, there will be a state luncheon in honor of the visiting president of Chile,” Coloma said in a radio program broadcasted by dzRB.
The Philippines and Chile hope to develop trade relations.
