MANILA — Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Saturday led more than 10,000 attendees of the 3rd Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) National Assembly in praying for the victims of terror attacks in Paris Friday night.

At least 128 people died in a series of terror attacks in Paris on Friday night (Paris Time).

According to an article posted on the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the cardinal paused for 40 seconds of silent prayer for “the victims of violence” in Paris in his homily at the closing Mass of the assembly, which was held at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City on Nov. 14.

“We cannot isolate ourselves from what is happening in different parts of the world… the constant violence and battles and this morning the news of what happened in Paris,” Tagle said.

The attendees composed of BEC leaders, workers and volunteers gathered at the venue that the Church joins the whole world in “sadness and in shock”.

“Let us unite ourselves with the many people who are suffering and the victims of violence. We pray for their families and we pray for their countries,” he added.
