Imelda Marcos’ jewelries to be appraised, auctioned this year

MANILA – In a statement, the Presidential Commission on Good Governance (PCGG) yesterday announced that the confiscated jewelries of former first lady Imelda Marcos will be revalued and eventually auctioned this year.
The PCGG and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has already signed a memorandum of understanding for the appraisal and eventual auction of the ill-gotten jewelries.
“Internationally known and acknowledged appraisers have been invited to appraise the collection, which PCGG and BOC expect to happen within the year,” the statement read.
Included in the collection were jewelries confiscated by the US customs and by Demetrious Roumeliotes.
These jewelries have been stored at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
The PCGG also planned to exhibit the jewelry collection but could not choose a secure venue.
