Toronto stock market declines sharply, Canadian dollar stronger Friday morning
TORONTO – The Toronto Stock Exchange was undergoing a triple-digit loss Friday morning.
Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was down 110.49 points at 13,681.29, following a 71-point decline on Thursday.
The Dow Jones average of 30 stocks was down 9.52 points at 17,746.28, the broader S&P 500 index declined 2.79 points to 2,086.62 and the Nasdaq was down 3.17 points at 5,071.10.
The Canadian dollar was up 0.12 cent at 76.07 cents US.
On the commodity markets, the December gold contract fell $5.30 to US$1,142.00 an ounce, the December crude contract was down 26 cents at US$45.80 a barrel and December natural gas was flat at US$2.26.
