Mag-5.4 quake jolts Occidental Mindoro, nearby provinces
MANILA — A magnitude 5.4 quake struck the province of Occidental Mindoro which was also felt in nearby provinces as well as in National Capital Region on Monday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs).
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 9:50 p.m. with its epicenter traced 22 kilometers northeast of Looc in Occidental Mindoro.
Phivolcs added that tremor was felt at Intensity 5 in Looc, Abra de Ilog and Paluan, Occidental Mindoro; Batangas City; while Intensity 4 was felt in Muntinlupa City; Pasay City; Mandaluyong City; Makati City, Parañaque City; Tagaytay City; San Pedro and Canlubang, Laguna; Calamba City; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; General Trias and Bacoor, Cavite.
Intensity 3 was felt in Quezon City; Mandaluyong City; Taguig City; Manila City; Talisay and Agoncillo, Batangas; Calapan City; Malolos, Obando and Bulacan, Bulacan; Angeles City; while Intensity 2 in Pasig City; Antipolo City; Las Piñas City; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Plaridel and Marilao, Bulacan; Pateros; and Lucban, Quezon.
The agency noted that the quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 100 kilometers.
Philvocs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the temblor but aftershocks are expected.
