Gilas Pilipinas warms up for 2015 FIBA
MANILA – Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tab Baldwin on Wednesday called on a new set of players in what was believed to be the first practice session of the national team at the Meralco gym for the 2015 FIBA Asia championships.
Among those who attended the two-hour practice were Jayson Castro, Gary David, Ranidel de Ocampo, Dondon Hontiveros, JC Intal, Terrence Romeo, Troy Rosario, Matt Ganuelas Rosser, Asi Taulava and Sonny Thoss.
These players, however, were not yet the official players for the FIBA championship.
The Gilas’ official lineup will only be announced next week.
Aside from Baldwin, Alaska head coach Alex Compton, Meralco coach Norman Black, Talk ‘N Text coach Jong Uichico and TnT assistant Nash Racela were also present in the practice being members of the coaching staff.
It can be recalled that Gilas Pilipinas finished first runner-up in the 2013 FIBA Asia championship, advancing them to the FIBA World Cup held in Spain. This year, the national team aimed for a ticket to the World Cup yet again.
