Is Binay-Jinggoy tandem possible?
MANILA — Vice President Jejomar Binay’s camp is not closing its doors on the possibility of a tandem between Binay and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) Interim President, Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco said that they are including the Binay-Jinggoy tandem among their options.
This is following Manila Mayor and former President Joseph Estrada’s statement saying he will not stop his son should he decide to run as Binay’s vice president in the 2016 elections.
In a text message to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Tiangco said that they still have to “study” the options they have.
“(We) haven’t received any indication from Senator Jinggoy (about that), but we will study our options based on President (Joseph) Estrada’s statement,” Tiangco said in a text message when asked if the younger Estrada was being eyed as Binay’s running mate.
On earlier statement, the younger Estrada said that Binay is still in talks with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
“I think Vice President Binay has offered the slot of vice presidency to Mayor Duterte. I think hindi pa yata sila nagka-ayusan,” Estrada said in a televised interview aired on TV5.
He also added that he is open to running for a higher post in 2016.
