Palace congratulates Nonito Donaire Jr. for winning against Settoul
MANILA — Malacañang on Sunday takes pride in Nonito Donaire, Jr.’s second round technical knockout victory against French boxer Anthony Settoul.
“Palagi po nating ipinagmamalaki at ipinagbubunyi ang tagumpay—ang bawat tagumpay—katulad nitong pinakahuling tagumpay ni ‘Filipino Flash,’ Nonito Donaire,” said Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr., in a radio interview with dzRB Radyo ng Bayan.
Donaire, known as the “Filipino Flash,” brought down Settoul twice in the first round of their scheduled 10-round super bantamweight boxing match held at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China last Saturday.
In the second round, Donaire landed his right hand at Settoul’s chin that sent the latter for the third time in the canvas, this prompted the Frenchmen’s corner to throw in the towel at 1:41 of the round.
With this win, Donaire’s scorecard is now at 35 wins (23 knockouts) and three (3) losses.
“Muli po siyang (Donaire) naghatid ng karangalan sa ating bansa. Sana’y magpatuloy ang kanyang pagiging kampeon,” said Coloma.
