‘Falcon’ to enhance southwest monsoon
MANILA — Typhoon Falcon (international name: Chan-hom) will bring monsoon rains in Luzon, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.
Falcom entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday night and is seen to enhance southewest monsoon in the region.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that monsoon rains may cause landslides and flashfloods.
Among the areas to be affected by the typoon, as identified by PAGASA are Mindoro, Palawan, Bataan and Zambales.
The typhoon is not expected to make a landfall but will intensify the existing southwest monsoon.
According to Pagasa, Falcon has a maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 160 kph.
Light to moderate rains is expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera and Western Visayas. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms is expected over the rest of the country.
