Binay Spokesman: Baloloy did not receive retirement cheque
MANILA – Joey Salgado, spokesman of suspended Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘JunJun’ Binay, vehemently denied the reports that Vice President Jejomar Binay’s secretary Eduviges ”Ebeng” Baloloy received her retirement check from the city hall before the mayor decided to step down from his post on July 1.
“Contrary to the report, Baloloy has not received her retirement pay,” Salgado said in a text message, as quoted in a report from The Philippine Star. “There is a process before employees of the city hall can get their retirement benefits. They should first secure clearances from different departments.
The process alone would take several weeks.”
Salgado also addressed the reports of Baloloy still collecting her salary despite her sudden disappearance six months ago. According to Salgado, Baloloy earned her leave credits and there’s nothing wrong about her still receiving her salary despite her absence from the Makati City Hall where she works.
Baloloy’s retirement was approved by Mayor Binay only on Monday, July 6, according to Salgado.
Baloloy and Gerardo ‘Gerry’ Limlingan – an aide of VP Binay – were named by former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado in his exposes against the Binays and the alleged corruption of city funds.
