Nancy Binay: ‘Administration using various tactics to intimidate us’
MANILA — For Senator Nancy Binay, the second suspension order issued by the Office of the Ombudsman against her brother, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘JunJun’ Vinay Jr., is a malicious attack against their family.
In a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer on Tuesday, she believes President Benigno Aquino III is aware of the suspension order. The first-term senator even claimed that they are being treated unfairly because they are not in the same political party as the President.
In an dzRH interview, Sen. Binay said, “Imposibleng hindi ito alam ni Presidente [Aquino] (It is impossible that President Aquino doesn’t know about this).”
“Ganitong-ganito and panggigipit na ginagawa sa amin. Ibat-ibang paraan para ipitin ka at takutin ka (This is the type of pressure that [the administration] is doing to us. Various tactics to pressure you and intimidate you),” she added.
Despite the struggle of the past year, Sen.
Binay emphasized their objective of serving the people. She also said her family will not give up no matter what accusations they may face.
“Hindi kami bibitaw sa laban natin sa kahirapan. Prayoridad natin na makatulong sa ating mga kababayan (We will not give up the fight against poverty. Our priority is to help our countrymen),” Sen. Binay said.
