John Lloyd dismisses break up rumors with Angelica

MANILA – Actor John Lloyd Cruz clarified that there was no truth to speculations that he and girlfriend Angelica Panganiban had ended their relationship.

“We are okay, we are okay. We are happy to be together… Kahit na working week ito, for me somehow we still managed na magkaroon kami ng oras sa isa’t isa, makita ko siya,” he said in an interview.

(We are okay, we are okay. We are happy together… Even if this is a working week, for me somehow we still managed to have time for each other, that I see her.)

Cruz also noted that it was not the first time break up rumors came about.

“Sanay na kami sa mga tanga-tangang balita… Parang kung mapipikon ako, hindi sa mga ganyang klaseng sabi-sabi. Parang kung mapipikon ako, dapat noon pa ako napikon, lalo na sa mga taong hindi dapat nabubuhay sa mundo,” he sternly said.

(We’re used to false news… If I were to be irritated, [it’s] not to those kinds of hearsays. It’s like, if I were to be irritated, I should’ve been annoyed long ago, especially to persons who shouldn’t be living in this world.)

Cruz, who just celebrated his 32nd birthday on Wednesday, admitted that he was not yet ready to settle down. But when asked if he saw Panganiban as an ideal wife, he gave a resounding yes.

“Oo naman. Napaka-swerte – kung hindi man ako – napakaswerte ng mapapangasawa niya. Wala lang, mayroon tayong kanya-kanyang idea, konsepto ng kung ano ang gusto nating makasama habambuhay. Hindi naman pwedeng puro ganda at puro talino. Hindi ba importante rin na kaya mong patawanin ang partner mo, masarap magluto at talagang yung connection niyo can go beyond what you can imagine, what you can experience? So dapat ganoon kalalim, dapat talaga malaking factor na magkaibigan kayo,” he said.

(Of course. Very lucky – if it will not be me – the man she’ll marry is very lucky. It’s just that, we have our own idea, concept, on what [kind of person] we want to live with for the rest of our lives. [She] can’t just be pretty or smart. Isn’t it also important that you can forgive your partner, [that she] cooks well, and your connection can really go beyond what you can imagine, what you can experience? So it should really be that deep; it’s a big factor that you’re friends.

The actor also shared how he spent his birthday.

“Very, very typical day para sa pamilya namin. ‘Yun naman ang goal ko, ayaw ko mag-celebrate, actually. Siguro nga dahil medyo busy. So okay lang, mag-trabaho na lang,” he said.

(Very, very typical day for our family. That was really my goal, I didn’t want to celebrate, actually. Maybe because [I’m] a bit busy. So it’s okay, I just worked.)
