Trillanes to run for VP next year
MANILA — Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday announced that he is 100 percent sure that he will run for Vice President in next year’s polls.
“I am 100 percent sure na tatakbo ako for vice president sa 2016,” Trillanes said during a Senate forum.
Trillanes earlier expressed interest to run for the post but he hasn’t made any confirmation until Thursday.
“I intend to run for a higher office. Ang preference ko ay… is vice president. Pero hinahayaan ko yung partido namin, yung Nacionalista party to decide,” Trillanes said earlier in an interview for “Kris TV.”
(I prefer to run as Vice President but I’m letting our party, the Nacionalista party to decide.)
He scored 5 percent in the latest Pulse Asia Survey for the most preferred presidential candidates.
Poe is currently the leading presidential and vice presidential bet in surveys for the 2016 elections.
