Binay still eyes Aquino’s endorsement
MANILA — Vice President Jejomar Binay is still hoping that President Aquino will consider endorsing him as the administration’s candidate in the 2016 polls.
“Lahat ng dagdag boto, inaasahan. Nandun ang paniniwala ko na kokonsiderahin ako,” Binay said.
(Each additional vote is being expected. I believe that I will be considered by President Aquino)
He made the statement during a media forum at the Luneta Hotel on Wednesday.
“Basta hanggang sa huling sandali, umaasa ako na ikokonsidera ako,” he said.
(Until the last minute, I am hoping that I will be considered.
)
Binay also added that choosing the right candidate to endorse in next year’s election is the prerogative of the President.
The vice president, meanwhile, has maintained his lead in surveys despite the allegations raised against him.
Binay said that when it comes to negative publicity reported by the media, those in the urban areas are the most affected.
“Tingnan ninyo ang naiimpluwensiyahan ng media ay urban. Ang rural, sabi ‘di totoo iyan, pulitika lang iyan,” Binay said.
(The media influences the urban voters. Voters from rural areas contend that it’s just politics.)
