VFS Atlas not for sale — OCD

MANILA — The Office of Civil Defense reported on Monday that copies of the Valley Fault System (VFS) Atlas are being sold by unknown individuals.

“The maps are NOT for sale and are actually available online through various websites for FREE,” OCD stressed in an e-mail sent to the Philippines News Agency (PNA).

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recently launched the VFS atlas to serve as a guide in avoiding area traversed by the Valley Fault System.

OCD appealed to have the information disseminated, as it is unfortunate that “some people are taking advantage of the available free information for profit,”

Also, OCD hopes for continued support to their efforts in building disaster-resilient communities in the country.
