Dingdong Dantes will not run in 2016 polls
MANILA — Actor Dingdong Dantes denied rumors that he will run for a public office in 2016.
Dantes said that aside from his work as an actor and as a National Youth Commission (NYC) commissioner-at-large, he is also preparing to be a father.
“I already categorically declined that. I’m not running. Nakikita naman natin there are more important issues more than my reconsideration. Bukod sa trabaho sa NYC, I’m a soon to be father,” Dantes said.
(I already categorically declined that. I’m not running. We already saw that there are more important issues more than my reconsideration. Aside from my work in NYC, I’m soon to be father.)
Dantes made the statement following rumors that he is being selected by the ruling Liberal Party for its 2016 senatorial line-up.
He was rumored to be chosen along withManila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
The actor added that being a commissioner-at-large is already enough for him to prove that he could be of service to the country.
I think all of us have a shot in nation building and public service…We have different opportunities. Ito po yung pagkakataon natin. (This is our chance.) We are focused on this,” he said.
