Mar still LP’s top bet for 2016

MANILA — Despite earlier reports of President Benigno Aquino III’s meeting with Senator Grace Poe, Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas is still the top presidential bet of the Liberal Party for 2016.

In a radio report, LP Secretary General and Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad said that they are still eyeing at Roxas as their standard bearer in the coming elections.

This is despite earlier reports that Aquino met with Poe to discuss the upcoming elections.

Abad said that Roxas’ qualifications with years of experience in Philippine politics and administration gives him an edge for the position.

The Palace, meanwhile said that Aquino has not yet made any decisions as to whom he will be endorsing for presidency.

Roxas also admitted that he knows about Aquino’s meeting with Poe adding that the party’s decision regarding the election issues is yet to be finalized.
