Tropical depression seen in Mindanao

MANILA – The state weather bureau yesterday said that they are expecting a tropical depression to enter the country’s area of responsibility on Thursday.

The tropical depression was spotted hovering over the pacific as of 10 a.m. yesterday.

It was seen at 1,615 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), meanwhile added that the disturbance is expected to move west-northwest at nine kph.

“This tropical depression is still too far to affect any part of the country,” the agency said in an advisory.

It will be named Dodong, once it hit the Philippine area of responsibility.
