MANILA — The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) on Friday reminded taxi passengers to report cases of drivers who refuse to implement the Php10 reduction of flag down fare for taxis.

Via Twitter, the DOTC said that passengers can easily report these noncompliant taxi drivers to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Last week, LTFRB announced that passengers can enjoy a decrease in taxi flag down fare beginning March 9 (Monday).

LTFRB noted that the approval of the provisional reduction of the flag down fare for taxis from the existing Php 40 to Php 30 was due to the decrease in oil prices in the world market.

The board, however said that it not hesitate to review and study the flag down fare reduction in the event that prices of oil increase to a level that transport operators are prejudiced.

Flag down fare reduction for taxis covers all air-conditioned taxi services, including Airport Taxi Service, nationwide. However, no provisional reduction of fares for every succeeding 300 meters.
