Escudero asks ‘Best man’ to skip wedding

MANILA — Sen. Francis Escudero requested President Aquino, the best man on his wedding with actress Heart Evangelista, to skip the wedding and attend the reception, instead.

Escudero said he understands the president’s busy schedule so he initiated that the Aquino skip the wedding on Sunday and attend the reception on Wednesday at Blue Leaf Filipinas in Paranaque City.

The senator said the president also agreed with the idea of skipping the wedding ceremony to be held on Sunday at the members’ only Balesin Island Club off Polilio, Quezon Province.

“I initiated it; I know (the President) has a lot of obligations (and) I didn’t want to pressure him to come here,” Escudero said

“I told him I would understand [if he can’t come]. He said, ‘It’s okay,’” he added.

Meanwhile, Escudero clarified that Aquino’s absence at the wedding had nothing to do with the recent killing of 44 elite police troopers during a bloody encounter at Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
