2 investigating panel to probe site of clash
MANILA — Two investigating bodies are set to inspect the site of the bloody encounter which killed 44 elite police commandos and civilians.
The Department of Justice has created a special panel which will conduct the on-site inspection together with another independent Philippine National Police board of inquiry (PNP-BOI).
The two teams will conduct the inspection next week to fasten-up the investigation on the case.
The joint panel composed of National Bureau of Investigation agents and state prosecutors was directed by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to spare the weekend for the preparation of the scheduled ocular inspection at the cornfield in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
De Lima said on Friday that the investigating teams are now evaluating the documents received from the PNP-BOI.
She also added that the upload location of the video showing the brutal killing of a SAF commando has already been traced by the NBI.
“The NBI is already working on that video, and they were able to trace where it was uploaded.
Now the faces, they are working on identifying them. But since the investigation is ongoing, we cannot disclose the details,” she said.
