CFIA recalls two food products sold in Ontario

TORONTO — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a pair of food recalls affecting products sold in Ontario.

One recall covers Elite Salads brand White Fish because of the potential presence of Clostridium botulinum, which causes botulism.

The product, from Elite Salads International of Thornhill, Ont., is sold in 200 gram packages with a best-before date of Mar.

15. The CFIA says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store.

The second recall, due to concerns of possible salmonella contamination, affects two cheese products from Mountainoak Cheese Ltd. of New Hamburg, Ont.

One product, Farmstead Premium Dutch Semi-soft cheese, is sold to restaurants while a smoked version is sold at retail.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with either recall.
