Madamba family contemplates filing legal charges against British teacher
MANILA – The family of 18-year-old Liam Madamba — the graduating high school student from the British School Manila (BSM) in Taguig City who died Friday — is now contemplating the possibilities of filing legal charges against a teacher from the said school.
Liam jumped to his death from the 6th floor of the Dela Rosa carpark in Makati City on February 6th. According to the family, the student was so tormented by the confrontation with his teacher that he decided to end his own life.
In an ABS-CBN interview on Saturday, Trixie Madamba, Liam’s mother, said they are already talking with their lawyer for further appropriate action.
“I have been talking to my lawyer and my family and once I see that my family is 100% [supportive], we will move forward,” Madamba said.
According to the same ABS-CBN report, Liam’s family is also planning on filing a hold departure order against the teacher who confronted Liam and made him admit that he plagiarized a part of his essay from a website.
“Dapat sabihin kaagad ng school ang nangyari para masuportahan sa bahay o dapat nadoon kami sa meeting na ‘yon (The school should have informed us, so we could’ve provided the support at home or we should’ve been present in that meeting),” Madamba said in the interview, referring to the meeting between Liam and his teacher.
The British School Manila has yet to issue a statement as of posting.
