MANILA – Eight men face complaints on Monday after allegedly firing guns during New Year’s Eve and posting the photos on Facebook.
According to Ilocos Sur Police Director Senior Supt. Nestor Felix, the eight were identified based from the video and photos uploaded on Facebook.
They took turns firing an M-16 rifle and a .45-cal. pistol. They were identified as Cezar Lutchina Funtanilla, R-Jay Cabana, Jumar Cabreros, Ian Christopher Calixterio, Russel Funtanilla, Geronimo Gomez, Philip Andrew Funtanilla, and Mark Cabana. They have not left the town yet.
However, in a separate radio interview, Barangay Chief of San Antonio Darius Comiso, said that nobody has seen the group since Sunday night.
Felix said that the complaints were filed at the Narvacan Municipal Circuit Trial Court. He also noted that there were no reports on victims of stray bullets since New Year’s Eve.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina of the Philippine National Police said that they saw the post from a concerned citizen.
The said citizen also reposted the video, including a screen shot of Drew Lutchina’s Facebook account that shows their photos firing their guns.
“If everything is documented, they will be facing illegal possession of firearms, alarm and scandal, illegal discharge of firearms, among others,” said Espina.
The video and photos were already removed on Sunday. However, the posts already earned the ire of netizens.
The Narvacan police station is closely investigating the issue to determine who is the owner of the firearms and if the men are licensed gun owners.
