Coast Guard rescues fisherman from sea in Tacloban

MANILA –A fisherman identified as Raymart Decarte was rescued by members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after his boat overturned on Sunday in the area of Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City.

According to reports from Radio dzmm, Commander Armand Balilo, spokesperson of the PCG spokesman, said that rescuers found Decarte – who also sustained wounds on his body from the ordeal – clinging onto the capsized boat.

The fisherman was taken to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

Authorities are looking into why Decarte was out at sea despite warnings of rough waters brought on by Typhoon Ruby.
