Updated list of areas with class suspension due to typhoon ‘Ruby’
MANILA — In anticipation of the onslaught of typhoon “Ruby” (international name: Hagupit), local government units and the Department of Education (DepEd) have announced suspension of classes from Thursday (December 4) until Friday (December 5).
Classes in all levels were suspended in the following areas in Biliran: Naval, Culaba, Almeria, Cabucgayan, and Caibiran.
Leyte, Southern Leyte, Tacloban City, Catbalogan (Samar), UP Tacloban, Visayas State University, and Naval State University have also announced suspension of classes in all levels.
More than 44 provinces along Ruby’s path have been declared as critical areas, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Meanwhile, DepEd reminded the public on the raising of storm warning signals which entail the automatic suspension of classes in affected areas.
