Filipino cuisine lands in 2015 Top 12 food trends
MANILA – Filipino Cuisine is expected to appear more prominently in restaurant and kitchen menus in the United States next year, according to a food trend watcher.
The country’s cuisine ranked 8th in the Top 12 food trends for 2015 list of culinary director of the advertising agency, Sterling Rice Group, Kara Nielsen.
In an article published in Fine Dining Lovers, Nielsen was quoted saying that the people “will see us all gain a newfound appreciation for Filipino food” next year.
Her food trend list was topped by fresh bon broth, followed by ancient brew Gruit Ales, Japanese matcha tea, coconut sugar, fermented food, marijuana edibles and pistachios.
Smoky flavor dishes followed on the ninth place, then the kalettes or the hybrid between Brussel sprouts and kale, and the idea of same-day food delivery.
Meanwhile, Andrew Zimmern, Chef and TV personality and food writer also included Filipino cuisine in his list of top food trends for 2013 in the US.
