‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’ remake features Jodi Sta. Maria, Angelica Panganiban
MANILA – It’s official. Jodi Sta. Maria will play the role of Amor Powers in the upcoming 2015 remake of the ABS-CBN tele-series, “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.” Sta. Maria appeared in the three-minute trailer for the remake, which the network debuted on Tuesday at its “Kapamilya Thank You” event.
Sta. Maria plays opposite Angelica Panganiban, who takes on the role of Claudia Buenavista, Amor’s rival.
The role of Amor – once helper, turned business mogul with a plan to eke her revenge on the Buenavistas – was played by Eula Valdez in the original hit series; while the role of Claudia was originally played by Jean Garcia.
The original show, dubbed the first “teleserye” on Philippine television, starred Kristine Hermosa and Jericho Rosales. It aired from 2000 to 2002, and gained a huge following among local audiences.
The story revolves around sweethearts Yna (Hermosa) and Angelo (Rosales), Amor and Claudia’s children, respectively, who are tormented by the discovery thatthey might be half-siblings.
In the remake, Kathryn Bernardo plays the role of Yna, while Daniel Padilla tackles Angelo’s character.
