Abad says Roxas is LP’s bid for 2016 elections
MANILA – The Liberal Party (LP) seems settled with their presidential bid for the 2016 elections, according to a top party official.
LP’s vice chairman Senate President Franklin Drilon said on Wednesday that he wants their presidential candidate to come from their party.
“I’m a party man and I would prefer a party member,” said Drilon. “We do not lack talents in our party.
”
Meanwhile, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad said that they are considering Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas to be their candidate.
“I don’t think that has changed,” he said during the budget deliberations in the Senate.
But he added that there was nothing new about government figures like the President expressing their willingness to speak with other parties.
“Politics being politics, you have to be open to speaking to other parties on coalition matters,” he said.
