Hilmarc officials face contempt for not attending Senate probe
MANILA – Two executives from Hilmarc’s Construction Corporation, contractor of the controversial Makati City Hall 2 parking building now face contempt for not attending the ongoing Senate investigation.
Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes moved to recommend that all board members of company be held liable for contempt, as the blue ribbon sub-committee hearing resumed on Wednesday.
However, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, subcommittee chairman changed the motion filed by Trillanes and recommended that only two officials should be cited for contempt.
Among the officials included in the recommendation are Engineers Efren Canlas and Robert Henson, chairman and president of Hilmarc’s, respectively.
The said recommendation will then be referred to the blue ribbon committee led by Senator Teofisto Guingona III.
On earlier reports, Guingona confirmed the jurisdiction of the subcommittee except for its power to punish for contempt and approve a report.
