MANILA –Actress Isabel Oli has yet to fully grasp the reality of her recent engagement to boyfriend John Prats.

During her recent appearance on “The Buzzzzz” segment with “Tito Bhoy” and “Toni G.,” Oli recalled the events on the evening of September 24, leading up to her engagement to Prats: “Birthday kasi ng mommy niya kahapon, may party daw sa Eastwood. Dapat daw semi-formal, ganyan. Pagpunta ko, kasama ko sina Camille [Prats]. Tapos nagsa-shopping shopping muna sila, so sabi ko bakit parang biglaang shopping ‘to, anong nangyayari. Sabi nila, may boyfriend kasi si Camille na nasa States, may pinapabili daw. Sabi ko, may event dun eh, nakikita ko. Kasi madaming tao.”

Oli recounted that when they left the store, she noticed there was a crowd, and hat tSam Milby was playing the piano, but thought nothing of it.  That is, until some people approached her and yanked her towards the hubbub.

“Basta may nanghila na lang sa akin, akala ko magbebenta siya ng credit card.

Madaming nangyari tapos parang ang gulo-gulo,” she said.

Then Camile began to push her towards the stage, but Oli resisted, thinking she would be asked to dance on stage. She, however, decided to play along when she noticed that Camille and and the other Prats’ sisters were in tears. The AVP on the screen likewise made her realize that this was “something else.

“May AVP na, so alam kong iba na ‘to. Tapos noong nakita ko si John, sobrang pogi talaga,” Oli gished.

To her surprise, Prats started dancing in public; something she had never seen him do before.

“Sabi ko nga, nakakalungkot kasi sumasayaw ka sa ASAP, sumasayaw ka sa ibang tao, pero never kitang nakitang sumayaw. Sumasayaw kami sa Kinect, pero sa actual, hindi siya ganun eh.”

Prats dropped to one knee, and popped the question, “Will you marry me” in front of the joyful crowd gathered at the Eastwood City square.

Tears of joy streaming down her face, Oli accepted Prats’ proposal in the presence of both their families, who had been clued in to the surprise.

Oli was Prats’ childhood sweetheart, but officially his girlfriend for a little over one year.
