“Norte” – The official entry of PH to the Oscars
MANILA– The commended Lav Diaz film titled “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan,” has been selected as the country’s official entry to the 87th Academy Awards.
This was confirmed by the team behind the movie on Wednesday.
The four-hour movie will be submitted by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) to compete in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the Oscars.
The official nominees in the said category will be announced in January of next year, while the awarding is set on February 22.
“Norte” was shot in Ilocos Norte. Both local and international critics commended the film. As a matter of fact, the movie was listed as one of the best films of 2013.
It also won the top prize at the Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival in Germany.
Moreover, it earned top prizes at the 44th Gawad Urian which include Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress.
