No official stand for LP over PNoy’s term extension

MANILA — Despite the recent issues on President Aquino’s openness to extending his term by amending the political provisions of the Constitution, Liberal Party stalwarts said yesterday that they are not likely to take an official stand about it.
During a meeting presided by Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II, and attended by over 70 lawmakers, several national issues including Charter change to allow Aquino’s term extension were discussed.
Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo asked Roxas on the said meeting, whether the LP would be determining the party’s official stand the issue of Aquino’s term extension.
Roxas, however, replied that there was no need for a caucus as the LP will not be taking an official stand about it.
“He (Aquino) continues to consult and listen to the people,” a Philippine Star source quoted Roxas as saying, in a report.
