DepEd aims for single-shifting in all NCR public schools by June 2015
MANILA — The Department of Education (DepEd) is pushing for its target to implement single- shifting for all National Capital Region (NCR) public elementary and secondary schools by June 2015.
During a ceremonial turnover of new classrooms in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday, DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro said he hopes for Mandaluyong to be the first city in the NCR that would implement single-shifting.
“We will strive harder for Mandaluyong to be the first city in NCR to implement single-shifting in both elementary and secondary public schools by June 2015,” Luistro said in an interview with the Philippines News Agency.
The DepEd chief said he prefers Mandaluyong City since the city only lacks one or two remaining schools to be established to qualify for the standards of DepEd for single- shifting implementation.
Luistro added that the DepEd, in cooperation with the city officials, would only need to look for an available space in Mandaluyong for the remaining schools to be built, which is done through mapping.
