Pacquiao: I’m excited to coach and play
MANILA — Pinoy boxing pride Manny Pacquiao said that he is looking forward to playing in the upcoming season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
“I am so excited and I can’t wait to coach and also play,” said Pacquiao.
“I like basketball also but my priority is boxing,” he added.
However, due to the boxing champ’s hectic schedule – he is currently training for his November 23 fight against Chris Algieri – he seems hesitant when it comes to how he will divide his time between coaching or playing. KIA Motors selected Pacquiao in the recently concluded PBA rookie draft.
“I might coach more because I will be in the middle of training camp,” said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao said that the first game of KIA will be on October 19 against fellow new squad Blackwater.
“I think I have the patience to coach and tell players what to do,” said Pacquiao.
He will be assisted by Glenn Capacio, Louie Gonzales, and Rob Wainwright.
