MANILA — Looks like President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III did not like it when his sister, TV host Kris Aquino, asked for prayers for the president to remain healthy and to “stay alive.”

The youngest of the Aquino siblings made the statement after the president’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA). According to Aquino, her brother asked her to stop stating such things because people are taking it differently.

Worrier lang kami na ganoon,” she said.

“Sinabihan niya ako (President Aquino). [He said] ‘Can you stop saying for me to stay alive? Kasi iba ang iniisip ng tao, Kristina.’ Sabi ko, ‘wala lang,'” she added.

Aquino explained her side saying that she, together with her sisters, tend to worry more about their brother during August given that their parents both died in the said month. Former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was killed on August 21, 1983, while their mother former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino succumbed to colon cancer on August 1, 2009.

“Chill na chill nga siya ngayon,” Aquino said about her brother.

She added, “Kasi parang lahat, ang mom [died on] August 1, dad [was gunned down on] August 21, so parang counting the days kami na sana ay matapos na ang August.

Aquino said that she and her sisters make it a point to pray often to avoid any unfortunate incident.
