More overpriced projects in Makati, says Bondal
MANILA — One of the complainants against Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay revealed that there are more alleged overpriced projects in the city, including cost of cakes gifted to the city’s senior citizens during their birthdays.
During the hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee, Atty. Renato Bondal said that the price of the cakes amounted to P1,000 each – almost twice the price of commercial cakes in shops such as Red Ribbon and Goldilocks.
This was contested by Binay saying that the price mentioned by Bondal was not the price that they have in their documents.
Aside from the cakes, Bondal claimed that there are other projects in Makati that are allegedly overpriced, aside from the carpark building.
Hanggang ngayon ginagawa pa rin yan,” Bondal said.
Kaya po ngayon ang Makati pwede n’yo pong tawaging ‘chop-chop’ capital of the Philippines.
”
Bondal mentioned that the local government of Makati managed to pad up the prices of the projects because it allegedly splits the contract, and no bidding was done.
The hearing was instigated by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to investigate the new Makati City Hall II parking building.
