Man arrested in Cochrane, Alta after brief standoff with RCMP officers
COCHRANE, Alberta — RCMP officers arrested a man in Cochrane, Alberta Sunday night after an incident that caused a bit of a scare in the community just west of Calgary.
Police vehicles with lights flashing converged on an area near a skate park around 6:30 p.
m. after a suspicious male was reportedly spotted in the vicinity.
There was traffic on Twitter about an armed man wearing camouflage clothing wandering about.
Cochrane Mayor Ivan Brooker posted a tweet warning residents to stay in their homes until “RCMP find the armed man in Mitford park area.
”
A short time later Brooker tweeted that a suspect had been arrested without incident after Mounties surrounded a home, and that residents could “sleep at ease.”
But there was no confirmation from police Sunday night whether the suspect had been armed or whether charges were pending
