More costs seen for 2016 polls
MANILA — A senator on Wednesday said that the country might be paying for more election expenses in the coming 2016 presidential elections.
Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto said that taxpayers in the country might need to pay six times more than they did during the 2014 elections.
Recto said they might be paying over P16.
8 billion for the expenses during the electoral process.
On earlier reports, a resolution calling for the senate inquiry on PCOS machines used during the 2013 local elections was filed by Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III.
Recto also revealed that the Commission on Elections already said that they might be buying P11.
43 billion worth of equipment.
He cited a brief paper crafted by the Department of Budget and Management on the proposed 2015 national budget.
