PAGASA goes high-tech with new app
MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) brings weather forecasting in the palm of your hands with their new mobile application, the PAGASA mobile.
PAGASA introduced the beta version of their new PAGASA app to the public at their orientation seminar Tuesday.
Michael D.C. Bernardo, maker of the PAGASA mobile app, demonstrated how the app is installed and used. Contents of the app are same with the website, thus granting app users an instant access to PAGASA’s database through their android phones and Internet connection.
It provides 24-hour daily weather forecasts, satellite images, a weather bulletin giving tropical cyclone updates and forecast track of a typhoon in the country.
There is also a tourist spot forecast that gives weather details to tourists traveling around the country.
An added feature determines how far or near the user’s current location is from a storm or an incoming one, keeping them informed with timely weather update and helpful satellite images.
This app is compatible with any Android phone, tablet or phablet with OS version of 2.3 higher and needs Internet connectivity (WIFI, 3G, 4G) and can be downloaded at their website (click here) for free.
