Horwath calls ‘bullspit’ on idea NDP would form coalition with Tories
ESSEX, Ontario — NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says she calls “bullspit” on the idea she would form a coalition with the Progressive Conservatives.
The Liberals have been hammering Horwath with accusations she would support the Tories in a minority government scenario.
Horwath has not explicitly ruled out propping up either the Tories or the Liberals if they win a minority government, but after being asked by reporters for days about various scenarios, including coalitions, she ruled one out today.
Speaking in Essex, Horwath said she calls “bullspit” on the idea that the NDP would join a formal coalition with PC Leader Tim Hudak.
She has previously said she wouldn’t support Hudak’s plan to cut 100,000 public sector jobs, nor would she support “corrupt” Liberals.
Horwath says she is going to respect the decision of voters when they cast their ballots on Thursday, and she trusts that people will elect a government that “makes sense for the people” — one of the NDP’s election slogans.
