Zoren Legaspi asks DOJ for more time to file counter-affidavit in tax evasion case
MANILA — The camp of actor Zoren Legaspi asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday for more time to submit their counter-affidavit in the tax evasion case filed against the actor.
In a two-page motion, Atty. Ricardo Ribo, counsel of Legaspi, asked the DOJ to allow them to submit their counter-affidavit until June 20, 2014.
During the hearing conducted last May 28, State Prosecutor Stewart Mariano set the deadline for the submission of the counter-affidavit of the actor on June 6, 2014.
However, in their motion, Ribo cited that aside from the “conflict of schedule” for the June 6, 2014 submission of counter-affidavit, they still need more time to get hold of the documentary evidence which will be used as basis to draft the counter-affidavit.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) earlier filed a P4.45-million tax evasion case against Legaspi for alleged failure to declare his true and correct income for the years 2010 and 2012.
