250 soldiers join search for missing mountain biker in Halifax area
HALIFAX — About 250 soldiers have joined the search for a man who has been missing since Thursday after he went mountain biking in the Halifax area.
RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae says the troops from 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown in New Brunswick joined the ground search today for Marty Legere at first light in Waverley.
Police say the 30-year-old Legere was reported missing Thursday after he failed to return from biking alone near Spider Lake.
MacRae says more than 200 people helped with a non-stop, exhaustive search over the weekend.
He says in all, about 350 people and three helicopters are scouring about 65 square kilometres of dense woods and rough terrain.
